Expertise in teaching maths modules (secondary)

These Expertise in Teaching Maths modules are designed to support Early Career Teachers to develop their classroom practice further, with a focus on mathematics specific pedagogy.

Each module is split into parts and then contains a series of videos supported by a workbook.

Module guidance: 

For ECTs 

  • Each module includes a short video (up to 30 minutes) with suggested pause points for completing tasks. 
  • At the end of each video, ECTs complete a school-based task involving discussion with a mentor or colleague. 
  • A workbook accompanies the videos, containing all tasks, additional resources, and reading links. 
  • ECTs are encouraged to download the workbook before watching the videos. 

For mentors and school colleagues 

  • A short overview video introduces the Expertise in Teaching Maths modules. 
  • Each module part includes a one-page guide explaining how mentors can support ECTs with the school-based task.
