Developing A level Pedagogy

This programme supports teachers to develop their A level pedagogy, with a focus on the Overarching Themes of the qualification: problem solving and mathematical thinking; mathematical modelling and representations; and proof, reasoning and mathematical communication.

 

What will you learn?

  • Your students will develop a deeper conceptual understanding of A level Maths content
  • You will understand the purpose of the Overarching Themes, including the use of technology, and their impact on teaching and learning
  • You and your department will be better equipped to support the development of strong subject knowledge pedagogy
  • You and your department will further embed the Overarching Themes into A level teaching

Programme Structure

This programme includes:

  • Flexible Work Group content designed to meet the needs of participants
  • A focus on the Overarching Themes of A level Maths
  • Exploration of approaches to support students, including those with lower GCSE grades
  • Consideration of structures, routines, technology and pedagogy that support progress
  • Content applicable across all exam boards and all areas of A level Maths, including Pure, Mechanics, Statistics and Further Maths
