  • Mastering Number at KS2

    What will you learn?

    • Your pupils in KS2 will develop automaticity in multiplication and division facts through regular practice

    •  You will develop an understanding of how pupils progress in their knowledge and understanding of multiplicative concepts

    • You will work as part of a professional learning community to refine your practice

    • You and your school leaders will develop Mastering Number at KS2 as part of the curriculum in Years 4 and 5

     

     

    Who can take part?

    • Two teachers per school (one from Year 4, one from Year 5). 

    • Open to state-funded primary schools in England. 

    • Schools must already be involved in Mastering Number at Reception and KS1. 

    • Schools must already be part of a Teaching for Mastery Work Group 

    • Support also available for subject leaders and head teachers to implement the programme with fidelity 

    What is involved?

    • Teachers will attend online workshops once a term to deepen understanding and develop subject expertise. 

    • Lead Teachers will participate in local Work Group sessions 

    • Lead Teachers will engage with teachers from other schools in a local online community to reflect on practice and pupil progress. 

    • Lead Teachers must support all Year 4 and 5 teachers in their school in using the materials effectively. 

    • Lead Teachers will collaborate to improve understanding of children’s progression in applying facts in various contexts using a teaching for mastery approach.
